In 1980 Ron Holthuysen founded Scientific Art Studio. After teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics for a few years, he decided to follow his desire to create natural history exhibits. There was not really a job to be found in which he could explore and combine his interest in taxidermy, wildlife photography, film, design, history, paleontology, geology, sculpture, painting, engineering, teaching and be an inventor, all at the same time. Ron always has the need to involve myself in a wide range of fields and to challenge himself with interesting projects. The result is Scientific Art Studio as it is today.
Scientific Art Studio is a design and fabrication studio dedicated to bringing unique ideas and wild dreams beautifully to life in the real world. Whether building a 20-times life-size baseball mitt for the San Francisco Giants stadium, developing simulated Mars test landscapes for NASA, or designing one-of-a-kind play and learning environments for zoos and natural history museums they are always informed by Nature and a sense of playful creativity.
